commission guide

Full Commission Process
A collaborative design process for custom works of larger size.

How It Works
Inquiry —
Send me an email (rachel@rachelsiviski.com) describing the size and subject matter you’re looking for. I generally accept commissions for work that is 16x16 or larger.
15 Minute Phone Consult —
If your project is a fit, I like to connect via phone for about 15 minutes. It’s often helpful to see any reference images you have in mind before the call, so feel free to send those along ahead of time. We’ll chat about colors, moods, and any other specifications you might have.
Deposit —
After we connect, and you decide on the final dimension of the piece, I will send you an invoice requesting a 1/3 deposit on the work.
Studies —
I will work on a small oil painting in a similar aspect ratio to your commission and send images for you to review over email. I find that working out the piece in oil (rather than in a black and white sketch) to be so helpful for both of us in terms of visualizing the final piece. I retain this work, unless you request to purchase it separately.
I will skip this step if you are looking for a piece that’s very similar to existing work I’ve done (i.e., “I love XYZ painting, but wish it was in X size”) since in this case the inspiration piece already exists.
Final Piece —
After we have settled on the final composition and palette, I will begin work on the larger piece. Depending on the time of year and how much I have going on the studio, this could take up to eight weeks to complete. All pieces come framed in a custom-made raw pine floater frame.
Delivery —
Shipping will be calcualted separately. Pick-up in person can be arranged in either Belfast, ME or Montreal, QC.
Lastly —
Thank you for considering my work! It is truly a joy to work with you to create meaningful custom pieces for your home.
I welcome commissions for work that falls within the scope of what I create independently: landscapes and seascapes.
Commissions can take two paths: A traditional, multi-step, collaborative process for larger works, or a streamlined, more accessible “mini”-commission process.
Mini Commissions
A great way to capture specific places or work with a specific palette without going through a full commission process.
Offered only in size 10”x 10”. Painting comes framed in a raw pine floating frame.
