commission guide

Inquiry
Send me an email (rachel@rachelsiviski.com) describing the size and subject matter you’re looking for. I take commissions for work that falls within the scope of what I create independently: New England landscapes and seascapes. The minimum size for commissioned work is 16x20.
15 Minute Phone Consult
If your project is a fit, I like to connect via phone for about 15 minutes. It’s sometimes helpful to see any reference images you have in mind before the call, so feel to send those along ahead of time. We’ll chat about colors, moods, and any other specifications you might have.
Deposit
After we connect, and you decide on the final dimension of the piece, I will send you an invoice requesting a 1/3 deposit on the work.
Studies
I will work on a small oil painting in a similar aspect ratio to your commission and send images for you to review over email. I find that working out the piece in oil (rather than in a black and white sketch) to be so helpful for both of us in terms of visualizing the final piece. I retain this work, unless you request to purchase it separately. I will skip this step if you are looking for a piece that’s very similar to existing work I’ve done (i.e., “I love XYZ painting, but wish it was in X size”) since in this case the inspiration piece already exists.
Final piece
After we have settled on the final composition and palette, I will begin work on the larger piece. Depending on the time of year and how much I have going on the studio, this could take up to eight weeks to complete. All pieces come framed in a custom-made raw pine floater frame.
Delivery
I offer shipping, or pick-up in my studio in Belfast for those local to Maine. Shipping costs will be billed separately in the final invoice, and range from roughly $30 to send a 20x20 to Massachusetts to roughly $250 to send 36x36 to California.
Lastly
Thank you for considering my work! It is truly a joy to work with you to create meaningful custom pieces for your home.
